What’s happening this May? Our monthly round-up
It's May! We've gathered some exciting stuff happening this month, in our local community and beyond.

Back in March we mentioned Swansea Zine Fest was going ahead virtually this year. It's taking place this Saturday, May 8th, and you can take a look at the full programme here.
More zine goodness! Nicola from the Wellcome Library has been sharing some of the recently catalogued zines for once the collection reopens. I've been enjoying this thread a lot.

The Cultural Spring are running a series of Awesome Artists workshops as part of their #CreativeSummer programme. They are designed for people living in South Tyneside and Sunderland, and you're welcome to drop-in at any point over the 10 week course - the first one is tonight!
Dear GP is one of our favourites here at MHZL, and issue 2 is out now!
New Writing North have relaunched Read Regional 2020, so now the remaining events are taking place digitally in 2021. Check out the link to have a look and book your places.
The You're Not Alone project has launched their latest creative wellbeing booklet, this time full of photography prompts to inspire you.

If you want to support more independent bookshops, both Shelflife Books & Zines in Cardiff and Pen Fight have new stock in recently! And if you're local to the North East, the wonderful Forum Books have just opened a new shop in Whitley Bay.
Lumpen, the quarterly magazine for working class writers, have just released their 7th issue. They're also looking for submissions for Issue 8, and the deadline is May 10th so you'll have to get in quick!
Have a passion for North East history? The North East Heritage Library are looking for pieces for their website. You don't need any formal experience, just an interest in the area.
