We've rounded up a list of some creative calls, zine releases and online events that are happening this month - in our local community and beyond!
Our online shop is now live! We've released the stickers and bags that were part of our Kickstarter campaign and some brand new acrylic pins. You can also buy the latest strange things? Collective zine, Loneliness 2.0.
If you are from the Coalfields and enjoy being creative, there is a new creative project as part of the Young People's Project at Washington Mind (where we are based). By submitting you are contributing to a local wellbeing resource for young people in the area. Check out more information on Twitter here.
This looks amazing. gal-dem and Kickstarter are working together to host some virtual workshops for women and non-binary people of colour. Check it out here.
Call for submissions - the amazing Drawn Poorly are working on their latest zine, this time all about Care, deadline February 28th. I really can't wait to see this one.
Thought about making some zines but don't know where to start? How to fold a mini zine, a simple demo from Cherry Styles
You're Not Alone, another of the projects at Washington Mind, are hosting an online Art for Wellbeing exhibition and are looking for entries!
Something local and lovely, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and Curious Arts commissioned Tyne & Wear based LGBTQIA+ artists for their digital series, Re-Imagining Pride. This made me feel really warm and happy.
The Northern Writers Awards are still open until February 18th, and there are categories for everyone, whatever it is you write.
Sunderland Culture's online exhibition Paint the Town in Sound is live until February 21st, exploring the relationship between music and art in collaboration with Field Music!
Also with Sunderland Culture, I wrote this piece for their blog talking about creativity as self care.
We are currently finishing off our online catalogue, but are always open to more submissions. If you want to have a chat about a mental health zine you've made, you can contact us here.
